icons?

So this forum is liberally illustrated with topic icons which, as far as I can tell, are never defined anywhere. Green stars, yellow stars, and several page-like icons (at least one of which seems to mark a "sticky". Also the mysterious little green pickle that sometimes accompanies them to their immediate upper right. Can someone point me to a legend?

Greens are usually the ones you have answered
Yellow is one you have been following but someone has added something to it afterwards.
The page with the red bookmark is bookmarked as a sticky.

At least this is what I understand them to be.

The "pickle" is a "new leaf" and indicates new comments have been posted to the thread (thread has grown) since you last visited and viewed that thread.

If you carefully click/tap on the leaf, the link will take you to the oldest of the new posts (beginning of the new posts since you last viewed the thread). But sometimes in a picture-heavy thread, this link doesn’t seem to land you in the correct spot. In this case, I often (back window then) use the tiny right arrow link next to the member ‘s name who posted last, which takes you to that very last post in the thread.

Thanks. Don't suppose all that is actually written somewhere? You'd like to believe that would all be spelled out in the "Tips for New Members." Lots of stuff there, but nothing about icons, as far as I can see. Page with green arrow?

I’m thinking the green arrow is for a shadow (link) thread/topic when one is moved to another sub forum but a link to it is left behind to guide members who have become accustomed to finding it in the original sub forum... but we don’t do that often so I can’t find one to verify.....

What I'm having trouble with is getting a picture for my avatar. I've tried, but it won't let me, saying it's to big or something even after I crop it down as much as I can. :|

Yeah the file size needs to be smaller. Sometimes you can try mailing yourself the image and use the mail app’s image size adjusting function. There are apps that will let you resize images, and I think webmaster posted a link for a windows app. In how to post photos instructions.

I just increased the size limit of the avatars from 8 kilobytes to 29 kilobytes. That should be sufficient.

The minimum size id 20x20 and the maximum size is 80x80.

There are places online that can help you generate an avatar

Hope that helps!
