Help diagnose my cherry tree

I planted this cherry tree about two months ago and its having problems. It was a bareroot. To me it looks like it's too much water or maybe there was a Frost? Any answers would be appreciated

Re: Help diagnose my cherry tree

umm.... did you mean to post a picture with this? No picture is showing. Without a couple pictures, knowing where you are located and a little bit about what conditions the tree has been through, we can't help.
Twitter account I manage for local Sierra Club: https://twitter.com/CherokeeGroupSC Facebook page I manage for them: https://www.facebook.com/groups/65310596576/ Come and find me and lots of great information, inspiration

Yes sorry had to upload pics to a site first so added after the post. Should be there now. I'm located in california. No special conditions that I know of.

Re: Help diagnose my cherry tree

Both of your ideas could be correct Boda, in which case your tree should slowly recover and grow away.
However......could you just take a sharp knife and scrap a small area of the trunk to expose the Cambium layer. It should be green and clean looking. If there is any sign of brown staining then it could be a sign of canker being active in the tree.
