GW and Rainbow, we need more people like you.
My brother in law was a school Psychologist once, he could not deal with the emotional issues that came with the job so he changed jobs and went into finance. He now has his own investment company.
I work nights as I like to work on my property and house, and do things in the day. I am a bit of a ski bum and I like to ski when the snow is good and not fight week end crowds.
I work for Boeing making what are called flight critical components, they are the parts and assemblies that are in the wings and make the jets fly, land, and hold the engines onto the wings. I work on 747's, 787's, 737's but my main plane is the 777. The things in a wing are very complex and have to be done to exact standards. I run a verity of machines and move to new machines every week, so it keeps it from being the same old same old. Some of the machines I run take up more room than some houses. There are also some very large machines that I do not run in our shop. I run some manual machines but most run on computers, I also have three robot machines to run. Sometimes when I have a load running and I have done my daily reading and my paper work (Actually on a desktop computer), I can sit at the desk of the machine I am running and come to places like this forum, this is why you often see posts in the night from me; and you all thought it was because I was a vampire.
The shop I work at is the most advanced machine shop in the world. We work in exotic hard metals and aluminum. Being the most technological and capable machine shop we do not look like what most people think a machine shop looks like; it is very high tech.

Thank you Tomf- I considered being a school counselor, but since I've been working in the school system I see all the other stuff that goes with it such as testing and such. Plus, it seems their job is never done. At least I get breathing room on occasion... though I don't work a school schedule, so I don't get school holidays and breaks off (or snow days, which would be kind of nice). Thus, I have some down time to get caught up on paperwork and plan ahead in December, January, and the end of July.
We do a residential summer program on a college campus so my summers are pretty busy (which is why I do not have a large garden). I work with mostly low income kids and there are certainly some challenges. I've had kids with bad home lives, parents who don't care, kids without a home, and the list goes on and on. There is enough counseling to keep my happy, and it is not as restrictive. In the summer we see them 24 hours, five days a week for six weeks. They become like my other children and it makes for a unique environment... something I couldn't get other places. I don't think I'll do this forever though, it's not easy being away from home during the time my kid is off from school and my hubby (who is a special ed teacher) is off from work.
I really admire people who do hands on work as I am not very skilled in most things, such as fixing cars, doing electrical work etc. I also do not believe I could be a very good saleswoman or business person. We each have something that clicks with us. For some it is their job and others their hobbies... for a lucky few it is both.
I'm enjoying see what everyone does and hope more respond.
