Counting my blessings

I had a long talk with myself this morning. It went kind of like this "OK Elizabeth, get a grip. Yes you are 60 years old and yes you do have a lot of aches and pains from all of the hardware in your body. Other than that you are basically healthy, you have a very good hearted man in your life, you have a wonderful, close knit family and dear and loving friends. You don't have to work so you are free to do what you love to do. Your car may be old but it is paid for and gets you where you need to go. Your home may not be fancy but it does what a home is supposed to do. You have enough yard for your garden and your plants. You have 2 adorable kitties. Yes the temps dropped last night and a north wind is blowing but the sun is out and the skies are blue. The birds are singing and the squirrels are playing in the tree. The back yard is covered with wonderful white clover which smells so nice. My garden is doing well and I am not restricted by freezing temps or snow. Yes the oak pollen is making alergies kick in but it is almost gone. " Hmmm - so now I am feeling grateful for all of the blessings in my life. I sometimes need to take the time to focus on the positive. I feel ashamed  for being on my pity pot. Every day of my life is only as good - or as bad as I make it.

Sorry for the ramble - sometimes I need a good talking to.

Counting my blessings .... always a good thing to do and very helpful for maintaining a positive attitude, which contributes to mental and physical health. In fact it does sound like you have a lot of blessings.

We should all be grateful for all the blessings that we have. There is always someone else who has a lot less.

It is always better to be happy in what you are doing, that way it hurts a lot less.

ElizabethB....We do have so much to be grateful for. Sometimes we

just need a reminder. Our house is old too, small ( but love it that way)

still need to do things to it, but can't wait to get out and garden, as

well. Winter has gone on too long. :( But sunny today, and the

birds we are feeding has a couple of pretty newbies join them today.

They had a lovely red chest, smaller than the other birds, but such sweet little things.

I love blessings like that. :D

Rainbow - thanks for the affirmation. Good to know that a professional agrees.

Still feeling grateful. Made a small bed for my herbs so I can take them out of the pots. The smell of fresh cut grass all around me. The clover is still blooming and very thick and fragrant - full of bees. The grass is growing so G will have to mow soon. Sun shining, birds singing and making their nest. Jays and Mockingbirds fussing at each other. Doves cooing - they visit me on the patio, cardinals building a nest in the oak tree. Squirrels barking at me and the birds. Put out the humminng bird feeders. Just waiting for them to show up.

Life is good.

Yup! Life is good. I went home at lunch time to get a little sunshine break in my day and water all the seeds and seedlings that are in the ground now. It was just beautiful.

I was sad once and some one told me to cheer up things could be worse, so I cheered up, and they were right things got worse. Just a joke.
My wife who has fibromyalgia says the only thing she can control is her attitude.
Just being alive and able to do things is reason enough to be grateful, every thing else is a bonus.
