Bromeliads

A friend gave me this plant, I have never had a plant like this one before.She says just to keep the bottom cup of leaves full, how big do this things get?Image

That's as big as it's going to get - it's blooming, which means it's at the end of its life. However, it will throw pups, which you can (eventually) separate off.

This is one is Guzmania ... and in the middle is not flower... its only decorative leaves... I don't know correct term on english...

...flowers are under that purple leaves...
...small...

...after all small flowers will bloom, plant will begin to deteriorate... and die on the end... its a normal process, you not need to be worry about...
...if you have luck it will give you small ones next general plant...
...but from my experience Guzmania really need great conditions to do that...
...so enjoy as long she will be great...

Question time, my friend that gave me the first Bromeliad gave me another one and it does not look like the first, I took a picture of it, the leaves are screwed up because the person had it before had a bird and was chewing the leaves, let me know what I can do to get this one to bloom.Image
