Mushroom kits?

Anyone try a mushroom kit with any success? How hard are they? What are they, exactly? I love mushrooms....and would love to be able to grow them. I know lots of junk hay around here (I own horses) is sold as "mushroom hay" That's the extent of my growing mushroom experience.

I bought my Dad a kit for growing morell's over a year ago. It looked like a bag of sawdust. We planted them per directions but haven't gotten any mushrooms yet. I'm not too confident that we ever will but who knows!

I was told morels are one of the hardest mushrooms to farm. But its the right time to go out and find some wild ones.

I was told morels are one of the hardest mushrooms to farm. But its the right time to go out and find some wild ones.

We had a terrible year here for Morels we got some spikes and a few blacks but never found the first yellow this year. Rather disappointed I did not get my annual Crappie mushroom and rice dinner I so look forward to each spring.
I had the Crappie and rice but mo morel drippings to pour over the rice.
