Novice gardener may have killed mini roses

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help. I bought some mini roses (the tiny one inch type) under a month ago. I got them home and repotted them so that the two sets of three plants became one larger plant.

I then proceeded to water them ever evening when I got home from work. The roses began to bloom. Then, they started to wilt. I started to water them every other day at this point. I then went away for four days and came back to find that three of the plants had wilted. They have brown stems and light brown leaves. However, although the blooms died on the other three plants, they have remained completely green.

I fed them at this point and moved them from under the window into a warm light spot out of direct sunlight and placed a tray of water underneath them. I have continued to water every other day and feed once a week and no change for over a week.

I should state as well that at the moment my appartment is very warm, 25% this week and last wek it was 29/30% which is my reason for watering my indoor plants so often.

If anyone could help solve the mistery of the dying roses I would be grateful I am a complete novice with gardening.

Thanks

Lisa x

It sounds as if you are watering a lot. Do you test the soil with a finger to see how the potting mix soil feels? If it feels moist or wet, do not water them. Do not place them near air vents or where they get sun for a long time as this could make them loose a lot of moisture. Use a little mulch to help prevent the soil moisture from evaporating quickly.

Thanks for this so am I waiting until the soil is completely dry? No I don't test it first to be honest.

They are not near any air vents but near to the balcony door so get plenty of sunlight but not direct sunlight

Are you sure you used potting mix and not planting mix. Some times planting mix can burn the roots of delicate minis.
