seeding radish question

hey ya'll. I've never started from seed before. but I put some radish seeds in a circle and the middle of a terracotta pot and two days later I got this :

is two days enough time for a radish to pop up like that? I was looking forward to like a week at the least. super super excited this is my first plant grown from seed !!!

Seeds can come up quite fast if they are kept moist and the temps are in the right range. Radishes are generally fast sprouters, infact they are often used to mark rows of things like carrots, which sprout and grow slowly. Radishes generally emerge in 3-4 days, so it is possible that they might make it in two. If you used new potting mix it must be.

Yes that is normal. Radishes are the fastest germinating plant around.

I normally broadcast them in my garden, sometimes I do rows but even then I just sprinkle in a row and usually don't even cover them. They always come up. Very easy to grow. Too easy almost.

Growing great!

They each need to have a couple inches of space around them in all directions to have enough room and nutrients to make a decent radish.

You should transplant them out as soon as possible, or just clip some if you don't have growing space for them. Root crops like radish and carrot are usually just sown where they are going to grow, because they don't transplant well. Transplanting tends to disturb the roots; when the root is what you are trying to grow, that's a problem.

I think I'll not transplant this time around, I'll clip all but three, thats a really small pot right there. and I'll plant them in a better spot next time. thanks again rainbow :D
