I cleared the brush and weedy trees from this area. It is a little raw right now and it was dark and rainy when I took the photo. I will make some benches and maybe a statue or some yard art to make it more park like. Part of my work is fire prevention the area was full of brush and I had made a few trail through it but now it is cleaned up.

I am thinking of putting in some rodies and more ferns. The deer eat hostas and azaleas so I have to be careful of where I put them. They have even eaten the azakeas and hostas right next to the house. I will also use some native plants but for the most part I want to keep it some what open for fire and ease of taking care of it.
So the vote is in and rodies won.

THG I am not sure very much is deer proof, but I have had good luck with rodies so far. I did have a few get some what eaten by the elk. As for azaleas that one would think are like rodies the think they are candy.
Every thing I plant has to have the wild life in mind. With that in mind I have a number of cherry trees that got big so I just let the birds eat the cherries. I am into having good wild life habitat.
