bottom rot?

I'm hoping to get some help with this problem. My wife found a tomato today that had about 20% of the bottom all brown and mushy. We checked at our feed store and were told it was "bottom rot" and a lime application would help. These are the same people that merrily sell us tons of Miracle Grow potting soil and Osmocote.

I am going to put two pictures below. The first is when the container garden was planted about a month ago. The second is today and when my wife discovered the bad tomato. The middle row of the garden is hot peppers and I am enjoying them already! :o In the second photo, I removed the corner plants in the back row, they are FireBush plants for my Hummers. I would sure welcome any suggestions at all about how to improve this garden and help with the "bottom rot". We both just love homegrown tomatoes and chili peppers. Thanks in advance! :D

UPDATE: Two weeks later and we are starting to eat tomatoes and have not found any more fruit with soft, mushy bottoms! We did not take any action, just waited. :D

EDIT TO ADD: I also got help from the following thread in the "Tomato" forum:
