Keep your vehicle doors locked.

Wife had 3 items plus medication she needed at Walmart. We pulled into Walmart parking space about 9:30 am. About 10 seconds later a black SUV pulled in quick and parked next to us on the passenger side. Wife decided to wait and let them get out first but no one get out. Wife slowly got out then walked into Walmart. Soon as wife was out of sight door opened on the vehicle next to us. A woman about age 70 got out of her vehicle then tried to get the doors open on our vehicle. Then she stuck you face on our window and was startled that I was still in the vehicle. The woman took off and I jumped out to get pictures of her tag number and vehicle.

I told Walmart manager she said, it will be on the cameras, we have lots of cameras. Manager took my name and phone number to report it to the police. It is not likely police will call me on Sunday.

Unfortunately crime is up everywhere. Theft happens 4 times a day on average at some of the larger stores. Some of the smaller mom and pops now don't take cash because they have been robbed too many times. ATM machines aren't safe either. Whole machines have been ripped out of stores. There were a few fake ones that stole credit card information that were at super market self check outs, convenience stores, and gas stations. I try to use the tap whenever possible. I also have a metal credit card holder that helps block anyone trying to read my card while it it in my pocket.

Car break ins don't even make the news unless several cars in a row are smashed into. Thieves like to steal catalytic converters from parking lots. It cost a lot of money to replace them. It also costs money to have a shield put in to stop it from being stolen in the first place.

I have a padlock on my gate. Unless I am expecting someone or a delivery. I usually keep it locked. It doesn't stop anyone from going over the gate or ripping out the fence. Both have happened before. But thieves will look for easier targets. Most of the time I keep my doors locked even when I am home. A while back there were home invasions where thieves walked in when people were at home.

Lately, there has been an uptick in violent crimes. Drive by shootings of random targets, as well as fights that escalated from arguments. One event that happened recently a neighbor drove a front loader into his neighbors home, killing 4 people at the home who were shot by him while they tried to flee. The owner of the house that was rammed shot and killed the man who attacked his house. The neighbors were at odds because of noise complaints. The police made a statement afterwards that wasn't taken very well. They said that they should have called the police first before shooting at each other. How, many more people would have been injured or died waiting for the police to show up?
