Weeping "Pussy Willow" Trunk Damage!

My grand father has a weeping pussy willow and it is starting to split on the main stem! It is about 7ft tall and gets pruned every so often.
It is about 15yrs old and seems to be growing very well!
Would it be that its not getting enough water and the main stem is starting to dry out? When looking @ it seems to be trying to shed its outer bark! If anyone know's what the problem could be please help!

Could be sun scald, could be damage from twisting. Is it bleeding? Could be canker... Pictures would help...
