Flood Lights for citrus plant

Hello guys,
So Iam bringing two plants into my apt (meyers lemon, jasmine). I had a big problem finding a good fixture lighting and a good light bulb. I went to all the hardware stores in town with nothing. I finally found this fixture that is similar to this but not really the same in walmart

The point is that I was going to have the lower lamp pointing at the plants in the table, and I will be using a halogen flood light. Bad decision for the lamp? anything you guys think is better for the plants.

Thanks in Advance
MHB

The spectrum of quartz halogen lamps is terrible for plant growth. I would suggest that you purchase a " special grow lamp bulb" to fit your fixture.

Yes, a halogen definately won't do. Don't buy one of those conical shaped grow lights, they don't last at all. Little incadescent grow lights are cheap and work well, they last for months.

Hopefully you haven't spent to much on your fixture. You can buy little light fixtures that clamp onto shelf units, brackets and so on at Dig This, Home Depot and so on. They are very inexpensive. The fixtures at HD are a bit of an eyesore. I've seen nice ones at Dig This though, and I'm sure you can find them elsewhere.

Not incandescent yellow light bulbs from the store, incandescent grow lights from the store, i've only seen the fluorescent ones at nurseries but, you could try there as well. HomeDepot carries them, Homehardware most likely would, as well as other stores.
