Weed Identification

Hi all, these popped up all over my front lawn in the past 2 weeks. Never seen it before. Does anyone know what it is?

Re: Weed Identification

Pretty sure those are seedlings of some kind of maple tree.

Ha! I looked into that after seeing your post. I think youre exactly right! I have two 35yr old maples in that part of the yard. It all makes sense now. I guess the wet conditions have never been so good for the maple seeds before. They are EVERYWHERE. But definitely with a central tendency toward one of the maples. Nothing to worry about then! Thanks and great call

Re: Weed Identification

Yes, I have noticed that. One spring when we had nothing but rain, rain, rain, with the ground never really drying out, I had more maple seedlings than I had ever seen. I think the ground staying moist over a long period is conducive for them sprouting and rooting.
