Zanthoxyllum piperitum pepper Bonsai need help

I bought a pepper bonsai about 3 months ago, and it started to lose its leaves for a month.

I saw some white insect on the ground only, and used chemical spray for bonsai, the insect are gone by now, but the tree still loses its new leaves..

What can I do?
Please help me

Was the white insect very tiny and jump like fleas? If so -- springtails are sign that the soil was/is likely being kept too moist.

The insect were like small white spiders, not jumping at all.
they are gone now

Unless you are keeping it in an unshaded southern window you should get some form of supplemental lighting.

The soil is very heavy & organic, meaning water retentive. Eventually it will need to be re-potted into a free draining medium. In the meantime utilize the chopstick method to determine when to water.

Keeping trees/shrubs inside is a skill unto itself and not all will be doable. Your tree will really do better outside (weather permitting) if you are able and willing to do so.
