We just moved into a house in Florida that has a tree that has 5 branches that all fork out at about chest level.
They form a large bowl or cavity 6" deep and about 6-7" wide at the top to form a deep v in the center of the tree.
Water and leaves have collected in it over the years so I removed all of the dead organic material in the cavity. and the bark inside is soggy and easily comes off. (I just removed a small piece the size of a quarter).
I'm afraid it is rotting and don't want to loose this large shade tree.
Some one locally recomended foam but I read that that is probably not the best option.
Does anyone have any recomendations?
Thank You
Loren
