laburnum half of tree dead

I have an established laburnum tree which seemed fine until this year - the trunk splits at the bottom and this year one side is fine but the other looks completely dead. I've noticed a fungus looking thing at the base of the dead half - wondering if it's too late to save it? Photo attached...

Re: laburnum half of tree dead

I cannot get your photo to enlarge so that I can see clearly what's happening with the tree. Sorry.
