I have recently purchased two packets of carrot and bell pepper seeds. Later I found that these seeds are coated/treated with thiram [a fungicide] I wish to know to whether the fruit produced from such seeds will have this toxic substance??
I had some bean seeds that were treated with this and there was some kind of warning that made me second guess growing them. So I just threw them away.
the info i see on thiram suggests that it has an in-ground half-life of 15 days. there will be nothing left of it by the time you harvest anything.
maybe get some gloves for planting, to make sure you minimize exposure? a little fungicide won't hurt you or your plants or your soil long term, though.
