Tomatoes vs pepper growth.

My tomatoes are pushing almost 2 to 3 inches while my peppers are still at 1 inch this normal? I started them at the same time.

Tomatoes can grow well at cooler temperatures than peppers. So if the conditions are same, then I'd say it's normal.

Even the variety of peppers, grown in the same tray will vary...my jalapino peppers are twice the size as my california wonders.

Yes normal. Peppers are slow. I start my peppers two weeks earlier than my tomatoes because of this. And yes different varieties of things can vary. I start red or purple basil a week or two ahead of green basil, because it is slower....

Sure! This is your first year starting seeds, isn't it? You are way ahead of where I was my first year! Course I didn't have Helpful Gardener back then to speed the process up... But it takes practice and learning what works for you and no one can give you all of that.

If you are startings seedlings, I'm guessing it is in a window, coldframe or greenhouse.

Yeah it is normal. I started my peppers same time as my tomatoes too and some all my tomatoes got first set of true leaves while only a few of the peppers are starting to show that true leaves are about to grow.

I used mats and lights and now I've moved all my stuff into the greenhouse.
