2 plants to ID

hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and I need help identifying these two plants. they were given to my mother and we don't know what they are. I'd like to help her grow them but would like to know why they are, and hopefully they have uses. Their leaves are thick and slightly waxy-looking.

The first one looks like Schlumbergera..( Christmas Cactus).
An apple a day.....keeps me in work.

yup. and the second looks like a kalanchoe or similar.
