Please, help me identify this poor bonsai...

Hello,
I bought this desperate bonsai discounted from a flower shop... I couldn't let her die there... Can you help me identify it? Is it Chinese Elm?

Yes, I believe it is. Poor thing appears to be extremely root bound and is in very poor soil. Your rescue attempt will probably require removing it from this pot and transplanting into something bigger, pruning the roots and leggy branches, and providing a good bonsai soil mix. Place it in a lightly shaded protected area outside and pray for recovery. Water properly of course.

As you wanted to see the progress I'll post some new pictures:

On 11/7 I started by putting the tree next to a window and watered it every day. I also trimmed some branches and cut off yellow leaves.

After almost 14 days it started to look better:

Then I bought a bonsai soil mix and changed it. I left it in the old pot because I haven't find anything suitable so far. I also moved it outside and put it on the balcony near the wall. I still water it every day and next week I plan to start use some fertilizers.
I does look more greenish and happy:-) Today it looked like this:

Very good news.
Sometimes we do not hear back from those who bring us problems and "sick" or dying plants. But your follow-up photos show that people can sometimes rescue these poor neglected bonsai. It is worth the effort.
It certainly shows improvement and is much happier now. A little pruning and shaping will help it even more.
