There are 38 phenology gardens across Ohio, all with the same plants in them. These are monitored by Master Gadeners and other volunteers, and done in conjunction with county extensions.
These involve matching up plant growth with the appearance and life cycle of insects. Plants are observed for their first bloom and their full bloom; insect observations are also made. This is to help knowing with insect pests and with helpful insects' arrival and life cycle stages.
This brings up two topics...

Does anyone know correlations between certain insects and plants in their area?
What garden projects are going on in your area?
