Ummm, isn't this sort of the topics for at least three more books?

Well, maybe not so much for the soil aspect I guess, but where do we draw the line on mammals? What about biosolids? Just more poop loop, or toxic dumping? What about our pets? And as Jeff asks, what about our human impacts beyond just pooping? Tilling, spraying, spreading...

Sounds like a segway to Part Two to me...

This chapter shows how even the nuisance-some pests we are so often trying to completely shut out from our gardens do pose at least some benefits. However, I think for the backyard gardener, these drawbacks sometimes heavily outweigh the benefits. At least if we keep some animals out, like deer with a fence, other animals, like mice, moles, and birds, can still transfer some of the benefit that this level of the soil food web brings.
