Help! My marigold plant is dying....

Hi there! I am Sheetal from Sydney. A month back I bought a small marigold plant which had already started flowering. But since then no new flowers are coming though there are a lot of buds which are withering without blooming! Even the leaves have started withering slowly.
Few weeks back I also put in a slow release fertiliser & a good mulch on top. I don't even water it everyday as I was told so.
I am a new garderner & am just trying to learn the basics. But I am scared the plant will die if i don't do something soon.

Please please help me.
Thanks

:-)

Is the plant in the ground or in the house? If it's in the ground, temps are probably too low for it, being Australian winter. In the house, there may not be enough sunlight.

Just a couple of ideas; with no photo, I'm flying blind...

marigolds

agree with cynthia that marigolds are full sun, hot weather annuals. They are easy from seed and cheap and abundant to buy, so you may just need to start over when it's the right time for them.
