Sappy leaves on my Bonsai

Hi all -- please help. I was given a Bonsai plant from my co-workers about 5 months ago. I have it sitting in my window at my new job, and I thought it loved the sun, but now I am wondering. The leaves of the plant have become dry and some have a sap on them. Is this normal? PLEASE HELP

What is the species of the 'bonsai plant'? It may be normal...then again, not many bonsai species do such.

Try this...go to https://evergreengardenworks.com/acer.htm and 'browse' through the listings there as there are a number of pics that may help you at least get close. Brent has many 'popular' species pic'd on the numerous pages (keep hitting 'next page' until you finish/find it).

Or maybe do a google-image search for Chinese elm, fukien tea, and other species you find listed in various threads here. I bet you will find it like that...

HTH,
Alex
