I purchased a couple young blueberry plants at one of the big box stores
the other week, and I'm not sure if after planting them they got some kind of freeze damage. Over the course of 7 days, we had 2 nights where the temps fell to the upper 20's. The stems had been green, and had a leaf or two (which I cut off before planting) and now their partially brown. The soil in the holes they are planted in had been mixed with peat and a good compost. I imagine they either have freeze damage or have started to go dormant. Also, I have a good quality weed barrier with red lava stone as a mulch. Any help would be appreciated!

Can't believe you buy blueberry plants at the big box store when you have such wonderful nurseries in Washington State and Oregon. I pay a fortune to have mine shipped from those areas to here in S.C.
This one in Eugene, Oregon is great and has a wonderful selection of good size blueberry plants.

And I also got great plants from this nursery in Washington.

I'm back...........with yet another dilemma. My 2 plants did come to life, however, now they've shown what looks like insect damage. I'm not sure what insect, but something is eating on them. I've started to treat with some insecticidal soap, but would like to know what you all might think is wrong with them. Now you can see both plants...I never thought this would work!

Yes there are so many good places to get plants here, I getlots of different kinds and get most of them from the growers them self's as I have some right next to me.I got 23 large plants from a farmer in Corbit Oregon for under $200 this spring. I have them planted in a cage with other berries and a drip system. I am looking forward to eatting the fruit.
The pictures are showing up now, so if anyone has some ideas, please let me know.
Thanks!
