air layering

I just recently bought a bonsai book and they have a section on air layering and I was wandering if any one has any reconmondations on wich shrubs or trees I should do this too and when is a good time. for now I plan on trying it with each tree in my yard, just to see wich ones work well but it would still be nice if anyone had some tips. thank you.

JosephHutch,

Now is a good time to try an air layer. This years leaves are hardened off and doing their job and their should be enough time left for many species to finish up, better hurry up though.

Have a look at page three of my Zelkova Broom thread for an example of layering. This is pretty much the same as air layering just closer to the ground.

thank you, I'm going to try a wisteria and a cherry tree, and a couple of recommended shrubs.
