Homemade earth boxes

I used a purchased Earth Box last year. It worked great for 6 pepper plants. I cannot afford as many as I would like to have so plan to make them. Has anyone done this? I have heard of others using rubbermaids as the container. Ultimately, having tried to keep tomatoes consistently watered in traditional containers with limited success, I need a new approach this Spring! Thanks! LLT

Although it's in a different section of our forum, here is a description by one member of his DIY earth boxes:

Hope this is useful! :)

BTW, I used our search function and wrote "earth boxes" as two words, lower case, to find this thread.

Thank you so much! I don't know if you remember me, but you helped me a lot last year! I also was able to locate a locate CSA to join so that is going to be great too in addition to what I grow in the earth boxes.
