can you help me identify this pink flowering shrub?

My mom brought this to me today, and I can't find it in my books. She moved into a new home last summer, and just this week, this shrub started blooming (in January). It's a 7 foot tall shrub/tree with very few leaves, but covered in pink blooms. I am trying to attach a photo of the small branch she brought to me. Thanks for your help!

Looks like a quince to me, but don't know the variety.
