Blossoms or new pads

I took these the other day, can anyone tell me if they are new paddles or blooms. The last time I saw anything like this is when it was growing new paddles. So any advice from the cactus experts would be appreciated!

I'm no expert, but I did have something like these growing years ago. (I still can't plant anything there without being stuck!)

They look round vs flat. That leads me to believe they'll be blossoms and maybe fruit!
