Does any one have any experience with Dalen Fast Grass?
Anyone in the Greater Toronto Area know where I can get it? I looked in my nearest walmart last night and could not find it.

It accelerates grass growth and prevents birds from eating the grass seed. Its like a tarp you put it over your grass and a benefit it may have for my yard is that it may cover pine needles from coming in contacting with the grass seed. I noticed the only places I have grass where I planted it from last fall is where there is an absence of pine needles.
After visiting many of the hardware and garden centres in the spring, I ordered two 10 by 15 foot "mats" and a box of staples online in late August for my fall seeding. That was an effort too, as many of the online sites do not deliver from the States to Canada. My preference would have been the 40 inch by 50 foot rolls as my much of my bare spots are just that bare spots.
In the front yard, there were considerable dead spots around a tall pine tree in the front yard, but as you go farther from the pine tree, the grass was in better shape so it seemed a series of 40 inch mats would be preferable to a series of 10 by 15 foot mats. The grass territory within 5 feet of the in the pine tree was either 1) thin, 2) bare soil, 3) covered in with a coarse weed. I figured having two rows of rolls would have been more suitable than on 10 by 15 foot mattes
So a mat was placed in Late September in the barest spot of the front yard.

Note the mat in relation on pine tree. The mat was left in its original condition. It could have been cut in half to make an L shape, as there is also bare spots and then spots to the right of the grass mat in the picture, but I elected to leave its original condition. I seeded both the area you see the grass mat in the above picture and to the right. There was also some bare patchs amongst some healthy grass to the left hand side in the above photo, that is between the pine tree and the house. I filled those spots with grass seed and soil fish compost that I did around the pine tree, but left it bare without any grass fast cut outs covering it
Also note the lack of leaves on the mat, but the leaves on the grass. No leaves remained on the grass fast tarp for long, as they glided off once there was a wind, sliding to the grass or bare soil once it reached the end of the tarp.
I only purchased two mats as I wanted to see how well it worked and gave one to my brother. Its regrettable that I only had one mat to work with as not only did it make the grass grow in the dead and formerly weedy spots of the grass, but it revitalized the grass eight or more feet from the pine tree.

The above picture was taken three weeks plus a day after planting the grass and stapling the mat to ground
Note how despite having really green grass under the mat, the yard has the look of an old pair of jeans where you patch a hole from another pair of jeans. Had I put Grass fast in the entire yard, there whole yard would be much greener.
