Sweet Peas

I have sweet peas growing along a fence; I never planted them but can probably thank squirrels. They have pods. How to harvest seeds to plant in another location? Wait 'till they dry or can I open green pod and gather seeds/ Do I have to dry them first? Zone #5

Yes, they are. I attribute EVERYTHIG unusual to squirrels...forgot about my little feathered friends! Thanks for the tip...
