Please help ID several plants

Our daughter purchased a new home and has several plants we are not familiar with that we hope someone might be able to identify for us. Once she knows what they are, she'll decide to keep or not or to move to another more convenient location for her. Unfortunately since there are quite a few I have to do this in two posts.

Is she also located in Massachusetts?

I feel like I should know them all, but can't come up with names.
1 looks like beach plum
4 looks like persimmon
5 looks like hydrangea (is that tree hydrangea?)
6 looks like pokeweed

Here are a few guesses.
1. -peach, plum?
2. laurel?
5. fig? if so, should have figs on it now.
5. Poke. Dig it out!

@ Applestar, She is in Connecticut just south of Hartford but basically the same Zone as we are.

Thanks for the suggestions I'll look them up and see if I can match pictures to the suggestions.

She has tons of plants I can identify but these others?

@Susan - I think #2 may be laurel. I'll have to see if we get any blossoms on it. There are several of these in the yard so I hope they gloom and aren't just leafy greens.

Looked up the poke plants and will definitely be getting rid of that!

Haven't seen any figs as of yet plus I don't know - would a fig plant survive the cold Northeast winters?

Thanks Applestar - I looked up the Hydrangea and it sure looks like it. I just wonder now which type it is: the 3-4 foot pee wee or the 6-8 foot normal ones. It is in a front position in one of the beds next to another hydrangea that looks like a normal mop type.

Here's hoping it is the pee wee

Thanks to you and Susan for the help with the plants. I'm sure as we go along we'll uncover more mysteries that will need solving.

#3 is forsythia
#4 is a magnolia of some sort

I believe you've got it - Magnolia!

I looked them up on the internet and sure enough the buds and leaves look alike. Thanks!

I also looked up the beach plum that Applestar mentioned. I'm not sure if the leaves match based on the pictures I was looking at. Hers are serrated and the beach plum seem smooth. I looked at some other plum though based on that suggestion and the american plum has leaves similar to the ones on the tree. Definitely some type of plum though.

Still checking out the laurel pictures that Susan mentioned. It looks like a match. It would help if there were blooms on it.

Ooh! Progress! Yes, I see the cone-like buts in the 2nd pic for #4 now.

#2 is driving me nuts. I'm almost sure I should recognize that one.....

As I continued to search the web, #2 does look like the leaves of the english laurel but I think I need some flowers to be sure.

#3 does look like forsythia leaves but I'll have to wait until next spring to be sure based on bloom

#2 looks like English Laurel to me also. I have a few in my yard, and they look just like yours. You might have to wait a year to see any flowers tho, as mine have bloomed well over a month to six weeks ago.

1. Prunus sp. - some kind of plum
2. First picture looks like Prunus laurocerasus, and second one do not confirm that :/ (looks like Magnolia) And nice shaped Magnolia it is !!
3.Forsythia
4. Magnolia sp. ( we need flowers)
5. Looks like Hydrangea quercifolia
6. some kind of Polygonum

I agree we need some flowers but so far none have bloomed and on some plants I can't even find a bud yet. The neighbor told us that many of the plants were "pruned" in October last year so maybe that is causing the lack of blooms. I use the word pruned loosely because some of them appear to be just hacked down without consideration to the type of plant and how it should be pruned

This is what happens when someone can no longer care for their plants or themselves and well meaning but unknowledgeable individuals try to help....

We may have to wait until next year to be sure what we have but I appreciate the thoughts so we can look at pictures of the probable plants and compare them to what we eventually see.
