Hi
Having problems all of a sudden with my bean plants they appear to be getting eaten but I cannot find anything that is doing the damage. I attached a picture of what my bean plants are turning into. If anyone knows what is causing this let me know and how do I correct the problem.

My guess, beetles or caterpillars. They usually start making trouble at this time of the year.
Check under the leaves for egg capsules and caterpillars. Mexican bean beetles, Japanese or Chinese rose beetles usually eat the leaves in a lacy pattern. Beetles do most of their feeding just before sunset to about 10 p.m. at night. Bright lights deter them. Big holes like yours are usually caterpillars .
You can use dipel on caterpillars. Look for the butterflies in the early morning or evening laying eggs and look under the leaves for the caterpillars. Good coverage is essential for control.
Kaolin clay can smother beetles and stink bugs.
Good sanitation, hand picking, and getting rid of alternate hosts like weeds will help.
They do have natural enemies but you need to plant beneficial plants and provide habitat for the predators. A healthy garden patrol minimizes damage and the need to resort to pesticides. The best time to do that is early in the season since it is mostly the blooming nectar plants that will attract the beneficial insects.
