Most people around here call a plumber. We had so many problems at our old home we contracted to replace the sewer line and went with pvc. Pvc doesn't leak like the other types of lines so we never had another problem with roots from our walnut tree penetrating the line. And the Walnut we had was massive and had to be well over 100 years old. No water leaking out and roots have nothing to seek out to penetrate. The contractor we used said clay lines were the worst and that he didn't even know why contractors were still using clay in some areas.

Good thing we opted to replace the line when we did. The old line was partially collapsed which was part of our issue and we didn't even know it.
