A month or so ago, I planted snow pea seed by a garden fence. I just threw compost on top of them instead of digging a trench. Since I knew we would have a couple more hard freezes, I told them to live or die. They lived, too many of them made it. We've had several rainy days lately and all I did was make a mental note they needed thinning out. Not any more.

Due to the wet ground, there was some sort of earthworm party or orgy or something in the compost. Birds found them and had a good time digging them out of the soft compost. In the process they thinned the snow peas out quite well. What do you know, sometimes procrastination works.
