Ben,

I went out on a hunch and didn't find much ...

Angelica? If so, which one might be purple and used by Asians? Well, there may be several. How about this one and maybe this culinary book can be a starting place:

Angelica duck feet herb. Hmong people use it with lemongrass and other herbs when boiling chicken. Add salt and pepper to the broth for flavor. It is amazing! A lot of women go on this chicken diet with rice for 30 days after giving birth. Sorry I'm like 2 years too late on answering your post. I'm still trying to figure out what the other herbs are in English. Oh and you don't not have to have a baby to eat this. It's just really good and healthy. Also good for when you'rte sick.

Kayok85,

"... like 2 years too late ..." I'm taking your post as inspiration for a gardener trying to be helpful :).
