Red Maple Tree Has White/Light Brown Spots?

Hi, I just noticed yesterday that the leaves on my red maple tree have a lot of white/light brown spots. Many of them already had withered to an unappealing brown. I checked the tree thoroughly but could not find any bugs or worms so I doubt the tree may be sick or got fungus? Our area has a lot of rains recently. Could anybody please tell me what's wrong with this tree and what I need to do ?

Thanks a lot

if you are in the south (you don't give a location) you may be looking at sunscald on your Japan maple.
