Name this red, white, and green plant?

I saw a plant on the DIY channel. It was being planted in New Orleans. It somewhat resembled a hosta, but was red, white, and green. It was 2 to 3 feet wide. It had a tropical look to it. I missed what they called it, but it definitely began with an S.

Any ideas on the full name?

A few more clues would be nice! Your description is veeeeeeery broad!

You might wanna look through these. Starts at "S"!

You mean the leaves were red, white, and green?

It doesn't start with an S, but what that makes me think of is caladiums:

They come in a variety of sizes, colors (mostly red, white, green, pink) and variegations

That is all I had.... I saw it on TV for about 5 seconds. And it definitely begins with an "S". Oh, one other thing.... I didn't see flowers on the plant, and the leaves were about 4" wide, and maybe 12 - 16" long. The leaves are lone and green with red and white stripes mostly running the length of the leaf..... Again, I think, because I only saw it for a few seconds.

Coleus comes to mind too.

Here are some coleus cultivars that begin with "S".

This site has caladium cultivars listed alphabetically at the bottom of the page.

Try Stromanthe "tricolor"

Your description is very broad. It would fit the description of a ti plant called Hawaiian flag. It has red white and green leaves and while ti does have flowers, it is grown primarily for its' leaves.

That looks like it.... Slightly different, but extremely close. :D possibly a slight offshoot? But I think that is close enough..... thanks!
