Tiger Swallowtails in the garden :)

I looked out of my favorite window just now and there are FIVE Tiger Swallowtails on the Joe Pye Weed that are in full bloom right now (along with two silver spot skipper and a couple of cabbage whites and a sarmof bees and wasps of various kinds).

When I was out earlier, I only saw two on the Joe Pye Weed

...and two others on the ...um... I forgot the name gain....

Very nice. We've gotten a few, too, but not that many. Lots of dragonflies, though, even though my lawn is basically dead.

 ELEVEN Tiger Swallowtails and one Black Swallowtail all at once on the Joe Pye Weed today

There was NO WAY I could get them to show on my dinky iPhone 4 camera -- I was groaning with frustration, then I had an idea, but lost precious time while I tried to hold my bird watching binoculars, align phonecam lense with one of the eye pieces.... I had them perfectly aligned a couple of times, but couldn't focus the binoc.

...finally got a DD to help supply another pair of hands and here is our best result:

Unfortunately someof the butterflies had flown off by then, but I'm satisfied we even got this much. :D
