peony care

I would like to know whether or not to fertilize our peonies this spring. We live in Roswell, Georgia and spring is here!
Thank you.

Hi Anne

I would tell you go ahead and fertilize, but consider organic fertilizers as they aren't as water soluble and don't pollute lakes and streams like chemical fertilizers do. They combine in the soil and actually benefit soil flora and fauna, which in turn can be big helps to your peonies! So consider manure teas, fish emulsions or other organic fertilizers and watch how great your soil gets. Remember it's all about the soil...

Thans very much for your extremely helpful response. I WILL consider the soil!
