I had a heirloom die so I saw this plant at Wal-Mart It was a Primetime hybrid. The tag claimed it would produce late in the season and a lot of them.
Anyone know what this is all about?I ask because all it has is blooms. The darn thing want set any fruit.

Hi Jackman,

You've probably already figured this out by now, but 'Primetime' tomatoes are late season producers and don't set their fruit until late in the season.

Received this from Jack:
They are not for where I live. They sat in my garden full of blooms. The problem they were not producing tomatoes. A very nice healthy plant, but know tomatoes. I thought Brandwine were bad.

The time they had 3 small tomatoes on the plant they did not have enough time to finish.

Jack, you must live in a colder hardiness zone with a shorter growing season. Sorry that happened to you, but gardening is a constant learning experience. I discover new things almost daily.

I received this from Jack:
NW TN I grow all kinds of tomatoes.

NW Tennessee is hardiness zones 6a and 6b and that could be why your tomatos didn't have time to finish producing.

Other reasons for low fruit and flower production would be intense heat or overfertilizing with too much nitrogen which will cause alot of leafy growth and little fruit production, especially if you use synthetic fertilizers. Could that have contributed to low fruit and flower production?

I would just like to step in and tell you that I grow PrimeTime tomatoes every year in Massachusetts, zone 6. They have plenty of time to mature here and are very dependable as well as delicious. They don't require any special treatment. I have grown these for about 6 years now and they are one of the tomatoes I depend on for late season.
I get mine from Harris:
