Beginner(again)-Pruning question.

I'm about to buy my first tree and don't really understand what pruning is or how I go about doing it. And that's really important in bonsai so I would appreciate some clarification if I could get it! Thanks everyone.

It varies depending on both the species you refer to and the stage of development your tree is in [As well as your intentions].

More details please wrt your tree, Are you referring to the Japanese Maple you posted about previously?

Yes, I am still thinking about buying a maple. And I just want a plain healthy looking bushy tree.

Then don't prune it and that is what you will end up with. :lol:
