Help my tree. (Juniper)

I recently received a shimpaku juniper bonsai. As a gardener, I have a green thumb that I am sure is gangerine. I know I should be using a fertilizer, but what type should I use? Does this tree need an acid fertilizer? How do I keep it outdoors in winter when we usually have 4-6 feet of snow? Do I water it during the winter? As you can tell, I have admired Bonsai trees, but never thought I would be responsible for one.

Use a fert that has a balanced NPK [10-10-10...15-15-15 etc] Yes, It would appreciate an occasional dose of an acid fert.

Much much much less watering in winter.

You will find that winter is much less of a problem than you suspect .
