A few plants from my garden

I was out weeding tonight and figured I'd take some photos of some plants that may or not be weeds. I also snapped some shots of good plants that I would like help identifying.

Possible Weed #1 - Popping up in various locations

Possible Weed #2 - Popping up in clusters everywhere! It looks unhealthy and like something is eating it.

Well, at least I can say that #6 looks like a chrysanthemum.

#2 Cleome - unmentioned 4th sister in the corn, squash, bean 3 sisters.

Yes! Dianthus. It hasn't bloomed since we've been in the house but I knew those leaves looked familiar

Thank you so much for identifying the Cleome! That one has particularly been puzzling me. My mother-in-law kept saying it was a type of phlox. It's definitely Cleome!

Looks somewhat like a chrysanthemum, but I'm looking at the thick, fleshy, square stem. Maybe a Burdock?

I'm with chrysanthemum and I'm familiar with burdock.

I can't give you an ID on plants 1 & 2, but I'm thinking they are not weeds. You will know more when they bloom.

Although in plant 1 picture you have 2 things - the big plant with large elongated leaves, that I should recognize and can't quite come up with, but not a weed. Mixed in with it is something smaller with shorter more wrinkled leaves that looks like it's about to bloom. That one probably is a weed.

Flower number 3 looks like some kind of aster.

Thanks for the help everyone! I might have to bring a clipping of possible weed #2 into the local garden center because whatever it is it's terribly ugly right now! Everywhere it's popping up it looks like something is eating it (you can see the ugly brown spots). I keep waiting for it to bloom but so far no sign of anything.

I looked up Burdock and I think I'm going to have to go with chrysanthemum as well. The leaves on this are shaped more like an oak tree with "cut outs".

As far as plant #4 goes, it is planted directly next to the dianthus and is very similar in growing pattern and height.

Possible weed #1 looks very healthy and since you've confirmed it isn't a weed I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with it!

Look up Spurge Laurel for number 2.

I don't think it's spurge laurel, although it does look very similar! The leaves aren't thick and shiny and are more sparsely dispersed. I'll have to check again when I get home but I believe the leaves are a bit rough. I guess this could be due to whatever illness it has. I will be on the guard for those little flowers or berries. Is spurge laurel always toxic? I haven't had any skin irritation from touching it and I tend to have very sensitive skin. Even if this isn't the plant I have, it's helpful information to know! I agree -- I think the weed plant might be Copperleaf. The larger plant's leaf structure is so distinctive I feel like I should recognize it as well, but it's not ringing a bell.

Yes to all of the above!!! I googled them and I'd say you both seem to be spot on

I don't believe the coreopsis has bloomed yet. I'm looking forward to it though!

Applestar, Cleome is one of my favorites and I have a million seeds saved (if I ever find them in the upcoming move it'll be a miracle). Any other secret sisters in that triumvirate?

I just wanted to confirm some of these IDs now that every one of these plants has bloomed

Possible Weeds (not so weedy after all)
#1 - Lanceleaf Coreopsis (In full bloom right now)
#2 - Evening Primrose / Sundrops (In full bloom right now)
#3 - Smartweed

Flowers
#1 - Obedient plant
#2 - Cleome
#3 - Aster
#3 - Creeping Phlox (They made for a stunning hot pink carpet)
#4 - Dianthus / Garden Pinks (Immediately went into show as the creeping phlox took a bow)
#5 - Chrysanthemum (Bloomed last fall in light pinkish coral)
