I am not really that sure but the leaves do not look like melon leaves.

looks like Buffalo Gourd, Cucurbita foetidissima.

Smallgardener - Where in SW Kansas? I have family from Winfield/Belle Plaine area. Since I am new, not sure I can ask this but just in case was just curious.
