Ive had this bonsai for about a month and thought it was a Chinese elm. I've noticed though that there are only two ridges on each side of the leaf, while the Chinese elm has multiple. The leaves are about a half inch tall full grown and they have small black spots on the bottom. Please help!

Vad23,
OK, I see that you have edited in a picture, thanks. It really reminds me of Fukien Tea. I don't grow this species so I'm only going from pictures and previous posts. The ones I've seen usually only have one strong serration per side though. Here is an image to compare against.

I have a fukien tea tree, and for some reason that one doesn't look quite like it, the leaves are similar, but on your tree they almost look smooth, Fukien teas have little bumps on the leaves. Also Fukien tea is very recognizable by it's small white flowers.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it is a Fukien tea tree.... good luck, either way

Just which one, I'm less sure of.
If he's living indoors, I hope you have a green house. Waxy evergreen leaves or no, my holly never prospered indoors.
The Only thing about the holly species all have thornes that I've seen. And my leaves don't have thornes, they have ridges kinda like a fukien tea

if it is the species I saw it is not native to the u.s I'm not positive but it may have been in korea or vietnam , but the leaves are smaller than the species ive seen in person and it may be a sub-tropical plant.
looks like someones going to have some holly reaserch on his hands...just hope there isnt 200 species of holly
