do you have to aerate compost tea?

Or can you just soak compost in water and then put it on your plants? If so, how long do you soak it for? wouldn't soaking compost or worm castings still be beneficial with nutrients without being aerated?

A shovel full or two in a burlap bag. Suspend in a garbage can full of water. Makes a wonderful tea. I would steep 24hrs or so.

I want to make tea soon but I got lots of worms in my compost and feel bad they would drown while I make tea. Anyone got ratios for smaller amount of tea? How much compost would you use for like a gallon of water?

For a gallon, maybe 1-2 cups of castings.
