New, with a 'mystery plant' question

Hello!

Glad I found this place!

I was mulling around my lilacs last week, when I noticed what seemed to be a snake growing straight out of the ground (ha ha). I left the plant in place to see what would come of it, and this is what I found this morning (see pic).

There's a flower in a long, deep cup shape, whitish with some purple and a fat, deep purple pistil (?) in the middle.

Any ideas?

I'm near Montreal (5b).

That is one of my favorite natives, Arisaema triphyllum or Jack-in-the-Pulpit. Suprised to see it in cultivated ground, but it's harmless...

Usually a fan of moist shade, hence my suprise. Great with ferns, hostas and the like...
