My poor butterfly bush. :( Help!

My butterfly bush was nicked with a weed whacker this weekend while my lovely spouse was outside taking care of the lawn. It didn't sever it or anything, but it stripped the bark on a portion of the main stem of the bush. It's only one one side, and it's about 3" long by about 1/2" wide. Is there something I should do for my plant to prevent more damage? Will it be OK? My dear spouse suggested electrical tape  Is that something that could be helpful to wrap on the area that was damaged? I've never heard of this before.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

I'd put rocks around the base to remind dear hubby not to whack the bush.

I think it will be OK... a death sentence is if it has been weed whacked all or most of the way around. I *think* keep it watered... not sure if you should put anything on there or not. Some other folks here have been around longer than I have and will have better advice to give.
